Climbing the Ladder or Mastering the Craft: What's Your Move?

How are you building your career? Join Zack and Gabe as we discuss the different career paths people take, and how you can become a strategic thinker, or a strategic doer.

Hey everyone,

Ever feel stuck at a crossroads in your career? You know, that whole "climbing the ladder" vs "mastermind maker" debate? We've all been there. Today, Zack & Gabe discuss a concept that really resonated with both of us: the strategic doer. Listen to the full episode for an open discussion around career paths, and what we have observed.

Should you become a strategic doer or a people leader?

  • There's no one-size-fits-all answer. The best path for you depends on

your skills, your interests, and ultimately what you want out of your career.

  • Being a high-level individual contributor (IC) can be just as rewarding as being a people leader.

  • No matter which path you choose, it's important to understand the business, the customer, and the industry you are working in if you want to be strategic in your efforts.

  • Strategic thinking is essential for both ICs and people leaders. A strategic doer can take action and get things done, but also think about the bigger picture.

The bottom line is that you should choose the career path that excites you the most. There's no right or wrong answer – do what you love and what you're good at!

So, there you have it! The strategic doer path might be the perfect blend for you if you crave both big-picture thinking and hands-on execution. What path are you on? Let us know in the comments below what kind of role fuels you and why!
